Ask the Specialists! Cathodic Protection
The Structural Concrete Alliance hosted a three-part series of webinars for each association in the alliance, where specialists answered questions put to them by attendees.
The Corrosion Prevention Association webinar was first up, held on the 2nd September. The webinar was very positively received, with plenty of questions submitted to our experts on the day, who were:
Paul Segers – Advanced Corrosion Protection Materials LTD

NACE Corrosion and Cathodic Protection SpecialistPaul is the director of Advanced Corrosion Protection Materials Ltd and provides services as an independent corrosion and cathodic protection consultant through SegCorr Ltd.
He has 23 years of industrial corrosion control and cathodic protection experience, having worked in the UK, Africa, Middle East and Far East.He offers specialist technical expertise into deterioration mechanisms, failure investigation, cathodic protection, corrosion control, infrastructure life extension design and whole life planning.
Chris Wozencroft – Corrosion Engineering Solutions Ltd
Chris is a forensic Civil Engineer specialising in the investigation of structural and material defects, and has many years’ experience building railways, carparks and stations before moving to consultancy.Chris has particular expertise in Cathodic Protection and specialises in the protection of early 20th Century Masonry-clad structures. Chris sits on various BSI, ISO and CEN committees and is a former Chairman of the CPA.
Keith Barrow – VolkerLaser
Keith is a Civil Engineer and is currently the Regional Director at Volkerlaser, the largest contractor operating in the structural repair market. He has been involved in the Structural Repair market for 30 years from Contracts Engineer to Director level. He has also held a position on the Concrete Repair Association Executive for 15 years and was Vice Chair and Chair from 2012-2016.A career highlight for Keith was forming a unique Alliance between Volkerlaser and CRL to carry out repair and deck coating works worth £50 Million on Oldbury Viaduct for Highways England in 2018 and 2019. This is the largest repair project of its type ever carried out in the UK and the first time such an Alliance has been formed to complete a project in this sector.
Lauren Fairley, the Secretary for the Association, welcomed attendees to the webinar and introduced the Chair, Chris Spence, who gave a brief introduction and an update on initiatives that the association are currently working on, such as training and the CPA Corrosion basics online course.
