Gunite repairs BT headquarters

CRA member Gunite (Eastern) Ltd was appointed as main contractor by BT Facilities Services Ltd to provide traditional concrete repairs and protection to their European headquarters building at Adastral Park, Ipswich.

The 1970s building is of reinforced concrete and precast panel construction with exposed aggregate finish. Although previous repairs had taken place the concrete was in poor condition, suffering from cracking and spalling.

The scope of concrete repair works included providing scaffolding, cradle and MEWP access; hammer testing; waterjet preparation of surfaces; concrete repairs; and coatings application.  Works also included renewal of pigeon netting and refurbishment of metal soffit cladding.

Sika concrete repair products included MonoTop 610 and MonoTop 615. The coatings applied were FerroGard 903 MCI, followed by pigmented coating, SikaGard 675w.

All works were carried out by highly trained and experienced operatives and a 15 year guarantee was provided by Sika. The project was completed on time and on budget and the clients were very pleased with the professional delivery and splendid results.
